The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline to update your Aadhaar address free of cost to June 14. After this date, any update made to your Aadhaar card will cost Rs 50.
Earlier, the UIDAI had extended the original deadline of December 14, 2024, giving Aadhaar cardholders an additional six months to update their personal details, such as Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA), for free.
According to the UIDAI, Aadhaar cardholders need to update their address once every 10 years to keep their details accurate and up to date.

Documents Required To Update Address

2. If you want to update your address only, then you have to submit the last three months of electricity, water, gas or telephone bills, a bank or post office passbook, a rent or lease agreement, and a property tax receipt, apart from the above mentioned IDs issued by the government.

An Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique number issued to resident Indians by the UIDAI, which includes the name, date of birth, gender, photograph and residential address of the citizen.
The Aadhaar card is an important identity and address proof and it’s mandatory for availing a host of benefits under various government schemes. The Aadhaar number is also important for many financial matters, such as opening a bank account under certain schemes, filing of income tax return (ITR) and receiving government subsidies, among others.
