Starting July 2025, several banks will change their credit card rules. Key names include State Bank of India and HDFC Bank as well as Kotak Mahindra Bank. These banks are revising their rules related to insurance, transaction fees and other terms.
Credit card holders of these banks should take note of these changes and check the revised terms carefully to avoid any inconvenience.
For instance, SBI plans to stop offering free air accident insurance on some cards. This update is particularly important for frequent flyers who rely on this benefit.
SBI Credit Card Changes From July 2025
Starting July 15, SBI Card will introduce key changes for its credit cardholders. These include updates to minimum due calculations, payment settlement order and the removal of complimentary air accident insurance. Currently, select premium cards such as SBI Card Elite, SBI Card Miles Elite, and SBI Card Miles Prime offer insurance coverage of up to Rs 1 crore. This benefit will be withdrawn from the mentioned date.
Additionally, SBI Card will discontinue the Rs 50 lakh complimentary air accident insurance on SBI Card Prime and Pulse. The cardholders who benefitted from this feature will lose the insurance facility from July 15.
HDFC Bank Credit Card
From July 1, HDFC Bank will revise credit card charges. According to the bank, customers will face a 1% fee (capped at Rs 4,999/month) on various transactions such as gaming and high utility payments, exceeding Rs 50,000 per month.
No reward points will be given for gaming-related expenses. The bank has said that insurance spends will not attract the new fee, but monthly reward point limits will now apply. The cap is set at 10,000 points for Infinia cards, 5,000 for Diners Black, and 2,000 for most other cards. To be clear, Marriott Bonvoy cards are not affected by these new limits.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Credit Card
Kotak Mahindra Bank will discontinue the Myntra Credit Card starting July 10. The bank has announced that existing cardholders will be shifted to the Kotak League Credit Card. Kotak customers are advised to check the features and terms of the new card carefully to avoid inconvenience.
