People from Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune ate out the most in 2024, according to a report by Swiggy.
Between Jan. 1, 2024 and Nov. 22, 2024, its 'Dineout' offers helped 22 million diners save a total of Rs 533 crore. Table reservations/deals per hour jumped from 337 to 1,242 during the year, it said.
The food platform's Dineout service allows people to discover various restaurants and make reservations there, at the same time benefiting from discounts and loyalty rewards.
As a result, its users saved an average of Rs 708 per order this year, against Rs 672 that it had averaged in 2023.
Delhiites made the most of it, with residents able to save a total of Rs 121 crore while dining out at eateries suggested by the app.
A user from Delhi saved Rs 1.22 lakh on a single order at the bar-restaurant Malamen, according to Swiggy. At the same time, a Mumbaikar shelled out Rs 3 lakh on a single order at a restaurant.
When it came to couple reservations too, Bengaluru's residents topped the list with 4,86,000 bookings, while Jaipur followed with 64,000 reservations.
However, residents of cities like Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Indore did not lag far behind.
Among tier-II cities, Kanchipuram, with an average transaction of Rs 4,284, topped the billing charts. The southern city was followed by Shillong at Rs 3,678, while Siliguri residents' average bill stood at Rs 2,747.
Shares of Swiggy closed 2.28% lower at Rs 583.90 apiece on the BSE, compared to a 0.64% advance in the benchmark Sensex.
