Many Indian states, including those that aren't the traditional bastions of the Bharatiya Janata Party, are experiencing a "pro-incumbency" wave, which could ensure a third stint for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in office.
That's according to Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who said in an interview to NDTV Editor-In-Chief Sanjay Pugalia, that even southern states such as Telangana and Kerala are experiencing the wave. "The trendline looks positive and seat count will definitely see an uptick."
Following proper booth analysis and gauging the current public mood, Jaishankar said the BJP will win more seats in Odisha, Andra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal—states where it doesn't have a big presence as of now.
The minister also said that in the next few years, the new government's major focus areas would be education, skill development, technology and manufacturing. "These plans will be implemented in the next 125 days."

Public Mood On Current Election
The minister said the development brought about in the last 10 years by the BJP was understood and respected by the middle-aged and the senior citizens.
Youngsters, he said, are hopeful the Modi government will bring in the required changes by focusing on the problems faced by the youth.
Jaishankar also said he observed greater public interest in matters of foreign policy in the ongoing election. "The government has been making a conscious effort to generate greater public visibility of its foreign policy achievements, which includes the G-20 summit publicity and vaccine diplomacy during Covid-19 (pandemic)."
