PM Internship Scheme 2025: Registration Link, Stipend, Eligibility, Last Day To Apply And More

The registration window for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2025, which offers a paid apprenticeship opportunity to youngsters in India, is set to close on Wednesday, Mar. 12

First announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her Budget speech on July 23, 2024, the scheme was officially launched on Oct. 3.

One of the key advantages of the program, meant for students aged 21-24 years, is that it does not have very strict qualification requirements. Students with 10th and 12th certifications and those with undergraduate and diploma degrees are eligible to apply.

The initiative offers skill development and employment training through internships across the top 500 companies in India. During the 12-month internship period, interns are entitled to a monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000, along with a one-time financial aid of Rs 6,000.

Things To Know Before Applying For The PM Internship Scheme

  • Last date of registration: Mar. 12.

  • Stipend: Rs 5,000 (month) + one-time payment of Rs 6,000

  • Duration: 12 months.

  • Placement: 1,15,000 positions in 500 top companies

  • Age eligibility: 18 to 24 years (relaxation for OBC/SC/ST)

  • Qualification eligibility: ITI: Matriculation + ITI in relevant trade/ Diploma: Intermediate + AICTE-recognised diploma/ Degree: Bachelor’s degree from UGC/AICTE-recognised university

  • Organisation: Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India

  • Other benefits: Insurance coverage under Jyoti Bima Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana

  • Application fee: Nil

  • Family income: No member is earning over Rs 8 lakh; No member has a government job

One important thing to note is that full-time employees or those enrolled in full-time educational courses are not eligible to apply.

The scheme plans to create internship opportunities in as many as 25 industries, including technology, PSUs, finance, IT and FMCG. The scope of the internship is spread across 738 districts, according to the official website.

Candidates can sign up on the registration portal and provide their contact details. This information will be used to reach out to them with the available internship opportunities, allowing them to select the one that suits their preferences.

While the pilot phase of the scheme launched last year targeted 1.25 lakh youth, the government aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youngsters over five years.
