Breaking News Live: Death Toll Rises To 34 In Sigachi Pharma Industries Explosion

The death toll in the explosion at the Sigachi Industries' pharma plant in Pashamylaram rises to 34, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

"Several bodies have been found under the debris while removing it. As many as 31 bodies have been extricated from the debris while three died in hospital while undergoing treatment. The last leg of the rescue operation is still going on," district Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj told PTI.

Cases of malaria, gastroenteritis, chikungunya and dengue cases increased in Mumbai during the first half of this calendar year as against to the same period in 2024, the city civic body said on Tuesday.

Mumbai reported 2,857 cases of malaria, 4,513 of gastro, 136 of chikungunya and 452 of dengue during January-June 2025 compared to 2,055, 4,200, 21 and 431, respectively, in the same period of last year.
