Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday briefed members of four multi-party delegations, including those led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, ahead of their visits to various world capitals. Their mission is to convey India’s firm stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

These delegations are part of a broader diplomatic outreach effort, with three others led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, JD(U)’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, and DMK’s Kanimozhi already having visited the UAE, Japan, and Russia to deliver India’s message.

In total, seven multi-party delegations will cover 33 global capitals. Their focus is to engage with international leaders on the threat posed by Pakistan-backed terrorism, particularly in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified following the attack. India responded with precision airstrikes on terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. In retaliation, Pakistan attempted strikes on Indian military installations over the next three days May 8, 9, and 10. India strongly countered these actions.

Hostilities on the ground ceased after military leaders from both sides, the Directors General of Military Operations, held talks on May 10 and agreed to halt further military engagement.
