Commuters who travel via the Blue Line of Delhi Metro are set to face disruptions on Dec. 5 after a cable theft incident that occurred between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar stations. Services have already been delayed on the line, leaving commuters, especially office- and college-goers, in trouble early on Thursday morning.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation confirmed the delays in Blue Line trains via a post on X.
According to the post, Metro services on the Blue Line will continue to face disruptions throughout the day as the issue will be rectified only after the end of operations at night.
“The cable theft issue on the Blue Line between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar will be rectified only after the end of operational hours in the night,” the DMRC said in the post.
Trains will move at a restricted speed in the affected area. “Since the trains will operate on restricted speed on the affected section during the day, there would be some delay in services,” said the metro rail operator.
DMRC urged passengers to plan their commute accordingly.
“Passengers are requested to plan their journeys accordingly as the journey shall take some additional time,” it said.
In another post on X, the DMRC had informed about the cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar stations.
“There is a delay in services on the Blue Line due to a cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar. The inconvenience is regretted,” the post read.
Passengers commuting via the Blue Line on Thursday also shared the problems faced by them at the metro stations.
One user posted photos of a crowded metro station, with scores of passengers waiting for the metro to arrive.
Another said that he was waiting at the station for half an hour.
A third user argued that disruptions can happen anywhere, DMRC should have informed earlier about the issue.
The Blue Line of Delhi Metro is one of the busiest lines in the capital’s metro network. It connects Noida Electronic City and Dwarka Sector 21 stations. It also branches out at Yamuna Bank station to connect to Vaishali in the east.
