US Market Update: Futures Rise Before ISM Manufacturing Data

As 3:30 p.m. the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 futures were trading 0.31% and 0.35% higher, respectively. The Nasdaq 100 future was 0.46% higher.

Stock Market Highlights: Sensex, Nifty End Lower, But Post Second Consecutive Weekly Gains

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex snapped a two-day winning streak on Friday as private bank stocks declined. Wipro Ltd. and HDFC Bank Ltd. were top loser in the Nifty 50. However, the benchmarks rose for second consecutive week.

The Nifty 50 ended 199.60 points or 0.83% down at 23,989.05, and the Sensex ended 784.00 points or 0.98% down at 79,159.71.

During the session, the Nifty 50 declined 0.88% to the day's low of 23,976.00. The Sensex fell 1.04% to the day's low of 79,109.73.

HDFC Bank Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., ITC Ltd., and Infosys Ltd. weighed on the Nifty 50 index.

Reliance Industries Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Oil and Natural Gas Corp Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Ltd., and Titan Co. Ltd. added to the Nifty 50 index.

On NSE, six sectors ended higher, and six ended lower out of 12. The NSE Nifty IT declined the most, and the NSE Nifty Media rose the most.

Broader indices outperformed. BSE Midcap closed 0.3% down and BSE Smallcap closed flat.

Fourteen of the 21 sectoral indices fell and remaining ended higher. BSE Focused IT fell the most.

Market breadth was skewed in the favour of buyers. As many as 2,105 stocks rose, 1,876 fell, and 122 remained unchanged on the BSE.

The benchmark indices rose for second week in a row on Thursday's gains. The Nifty 50 and Sensex recorded the best session since Nov 22 Thursday and posted the highest closing in over three weeks.

Nifty, Sensex Fall After Muted Open As HDFC Bank, Infosys Share Prices Drag

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex declined shortly after a muted open tracking losses in shares of HDFC Bank Ltd. and Infosys Ltd. As of 9:16 a.m., the Nifty 50 was trading 39.05 points or 0.16% down at 24,149.60, and the Sensex was 112.02 points or 0.14% down at 79,831.69.

"On the downside, the 24,000 level remains a crucial support zone; a breach of this level could trigger extended selling towards the 23,800–23,600 range. Conversely, on the upside, immediate resistance is observed at 24,300, with the 24,500 level acting as a significant hurdle. Given the current market setup, traders are advised to start buying on dips as long as the index holds above 24,000, with 23,800 as a stop-loss on a closing basis to manage risks effectively," said Hardik Matalia, a derivative analyst at Choice Broking.

HDFC Bank Ltd., Infosys Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., and Hero MotoCorp Ltd. weighed on the Nifty 50 index.

Oil and Natural Gas Corp Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., HCLTech Ltd., Trent Ltd. and JSW Steel Ltd. added to the Nifty 50 index.

On NSE, six sectors advanced, four declined, and two remained flat out of 12. The NSE IT was the worst performing sector during open, while the NSE Nifty Media the best performing sector.

The Indian benchmarks closed higher for the second consecutive day on Thursday and recorded their best sessions since Nov. 22. Both the equity indices saw their highest closing since Dec. 18.

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 445.75 points or 1.88% up at 24,188.65 and the BSE Sensex ended 1,436.30 points or 1.83% higher at 79,943.71.
