The process of KYC (Know Your Customer) verification has become necessary in many financial organisations, especially banks and investment institutions. A few years ago, different financial institutions like banks, asset management firms, etc, all had their own Know Your Customer Verification (KYC) processes. However, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) introduced KYC Registration Agencies or KRAs in order to make the KYC process more uniform and protect the data of the customers and investors. The CVL KRA is one such KYC Registration Agency that offers KYC and KYC-related services to fund houses, stockbrokers and other agencies that are compliant with SEBI. KYC is a one-time process that helps in authenticating the identity of the customer and is mandatory for all financial institutions.

Previously, investors had to repeat the KYC process every time they wanted to use the services of a fund house or a stockbroking institute. However, by registering through any one of the KYC Registration Agencies (KRAs), customers only have to carry out the KYC process once and they can then invest in mutual funds through different financial institutions.
