Bharat Electronics Ltd., Jio Financial Services Ltd., Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Dr. Reddy Laboratories Ltd. and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. emerged as the top gainers for the day. In contrast, Infosys Ltd., Power Grid Corp., Eternal Ltd., HCLTech, and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. were among top laggards of the Nifty 50.
Sensex and Nifty 50 ended the day with losses on Tuesday's trading session. Nifty 50 ended 1.39% lower at 24,578.35 and Sensex closed down 1.55% at 81,148.22. The losses came after the markets climbed nearly 4% higher on Monday, followed by easing tension between India and Pakistan and encouraging signals from ongoing US-China trade talks. Notably, Monday marked the biggest intraday jump since 2021 for both Sensex and Nifty.
BEL was among the top performers among the Nifty 50 and closed 4.01% higher at Rs 337.75, after it rose over 4.63% on Tuesday. Shares for Jio Financial Services Ltd. were up 1.71% to Rs 267.40 at market close and Hero MotoCorp. shares increased 1.97% to close at Rs 4063.60. Dr. Reddy's and Sun Pharma were also among the top gainers.
Infosys Ltd. declined 3.58% on Tuesday, with the stock closing at Rs 1,568.60. Power Grid Corp. shares slumped nearly 3.43% on Wednesday to close at Rs 298.45, close to the intraday low. Shares of Zomato parent Eternal closed 3.28% lower at Rs 231.65 apiece. HCLTech ended 3.04% down at Rs 1,619.60 per share. Tata Consultancy Services was also among the worst performers for the day.
