Shares of Trent Ltd. and Bharat Petroleum Corp. were the top gainers on Tuesday, while IndusInd Bank Ltd. fared the worst on the NSE Nifty 50.
The Nifty ended 0.17% or 37.60 points up at 22,497.90, while the BSE Sensex closed 0.02% or 12.85 points lower at 74,102.32. The benchmarks swung between gains and declines through the day.
Trent surged as much as 5% during the day and then closed over 4% higher at Rs 4,998 apiece. BPCL followed by closing nearly 3% up.
Another notable gainer on the benchmark was Sun Pharma Ltd. after ICICI Securities upgraded the stock to 'Buy' from 'Hold' and hiked the target price to Rs 1,895 from Rs 1,840, citing a spree to expand the speciality care portfolio. Jefferies also added the stock to its 'model portfolio' strategy.
In terms of point contribution to the Nifty, ICICI Bank Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. added the most while IndusInd Bank and Infosys Ltd. weighed.
