FOMC Meeting: What To Expect

Federal Reserve officials are likely to go for a pause after three straight rate cuts since September 2024, according to a report by Bloomberg. This will allow the Fed more time to tamp down inflation as well as assess how Trump’s policies will impact the economy.

In December 2024, Powell and his team had announced a 25 basis points rate cut, bringing interest rates down to a range of 4.25% to 4.5%.

Several policymakers quoted by Bloomberg have indicated that fewer rate cuts are expected this year, following data showing that the U.S. economy remains strong and inflation has been more persistent than initially anticipated.
