Passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealerships grew 4% year-on-year to 3,47,522 units in November, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. In the same month last year, a total of 3,33,833 units were dispatched.
The 4% growth November is sharper as compared to the flattish trend seen in October, when the dispatches had risen marginally to 3,93,238 as compared to 3,89,714 units in the year-ago period.
While passenger vehicle dispatches climbed in November, two-wheeler wholesale dispatches saw a decline of 1%, dropping to 16.05 lakh units from 16.23 lakh units in the same month last year.
The decline comes after the festive season pushed two-wheeler sales in October to 21.64 lakh, marking a jump of 14% from 18.95 lakh units in the year-ago period.
"Though Diwali festival did not fall in the month of November in 2024, the two-wheeler segment posted a sale of 16.05 lakh units, crossing the 16 lakh units mark for the first time in a non-Diwali November," SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said.
Meanwhile, the total three-wheeler dispatches dipped 1% year-on-year in November to 59,350 units, the automobile manufacturers' body said in a statement.
