Magicpin, which claims to be India's third largest food delivery app, has forayed into 15-minute food deliveries via a new product MagicNow, according to a press release on Tuesday.
The move comes days after Zomato-owned Blinkit launched Bistro and Swiggy announced Bolt as their quick food delivery arms. Newly-founded Swish and Zepto Café will also compete in this hotly contested space.
MagicNow will provide fast food delivery within a 1.5–2 km radius and will be initially launched in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and the National Capital Region, it said.
It conducted a month-long pilot programme from Nov. 14 to Dec. 15, resulting in 75,000 food deliveries in the NCR and Bengaluru in select localities. "We've achieved this by working closely with restaurant partners, food brands and leveraging our logistics capabilities to create an unmatched delivery experience," Anshoo Sharma, chief executive officer of Magicpin, said.
Instead of building its own fleet, delivery will be done by Velocity, which is an in-house aggregator of its third-party logistics partners like Shadowfax, Dunzo, Rapido, Porter, Ola and Zypp. It will deliver only from brands like Chaayos, Faasos, Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, Tacobell, Barista and not operate from dark stores, according to the release.
Magicpin has pivoted to being a major food delivery app after it became a network participant on the Open Network for Digital Commerce.
