La Opala RG Ltd., the manufacturer of Opal Glassware in India, has announced the temporary halt of operations at its Madhupur Opal Glass Plant in Jharkhand, starting from July 7.
The decision by the Board of Directors was taken during the meeting on Saturday, the company said through an exchange filing. It was taken due to the aging infrastructure of the plant, outdated machinery, and obsolete semi-automatic technology, the company said. These factors have led to decreased efficiency and increased production costs, the filing said.
The company will consider different possibilities to utilise the land, buildings and plant machinery in a manner that benefits the company most, it said.
According to the company, the suspension will not significantly impact or harm the company's operations. The Sitarganj plant in Uttarakhand, equipped with advanced facilities, has sufficient capacity to meet market demand, thereby ensuring no reduction in turnover or financial repercussions.
