Power distributer Adani Electricity is deploying AI-driven forecasting models, automation, and a diverse energy mix to meet rising demand during the upcoming Mumbai summer.
Adani Electricity anticipates peak demand to hit 2,200 MW this summer, up from 2,089 MW last year. To manage this surge, the company has secured power through a mix of long-term, medium-term, and short-term contracts, including 1,300 MW from long-term agreements, 500 MW from medium-term deals, and an additional 700 MW from short-term renewable sources. A further 300 MW has been arranged through banking agreements, with any extra requirements to be met via the short-term power market.
To ensure efficient power management, Adani Electricity has integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning-based demand forecasting models that analyse historical consumption data, weather conditions, and real-time grid metrics.
Adani Electricity's call center is set to use AI-driven forecasting to predict call volumes and adjust staffing to reduce wait times. The company is also working on generative AI-powered virtual agents to respond to customer queries.
The company is securing additional solar and wind energy, aiming to reduce dependence on conventional sources while ensuring grid reliability during peak summer months.
"Our focus remains on providing a seamless power supply to Mumbai while increasing our commitment to renewable energy," an Adani Electricity spokesperson said. "Through strategic long-term and short-term contracts, we are ensuring uninterrupted power, even during peak summer months, with a growing share of clean energy sources."
