Auto Sales In May 2025: Hyundai India
Total sales of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. fell for the fourth straight month in May 2025, as rivals caught up India's de facto No.2 carmaker.
The South Korean carmaker shipped 58,701 units to dealerships in India and abroad last month, as against 63,551 units in the year-ago period—a decline of 7.6% year-on-year, according to an exchange filing on Monday.

The company attributed the decline to a planned shutdown of its Chennai plant for bi-annual maintenance.
"May is a month of our routine week-long biannual maintenance shutdown at our Chennai facility which affects availability of few critical models," Tarun Garg, chief operating officer at Hyundai India, said in the filing.
"Going forward, we remain hopeful of a steady increase in demand for both domestic as well as exports with reduced uncertainty on the geopolitical front and improved macroeconomic situation.”
Auto Sales In May 2025: Maruti Suzuki
Total sales of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. rose 3.16% year-on-year to 1,80,077 units in May 2025, according to an exchange filing on Monday.

Hero MotoCorp: Auto Sales In May 2025
Hero MotoCorp Ltd. grew by less than 2% in May 2025 but still managed to ship half-a-million two-wheelers to dealers last month.
India's largest two-wheeler maker dispatched to dealerships in India and abroad a total of 5,07,701 units last month, as against 4,98,123 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Monday. At 18,704 units, exports sustained their volumes.
The Vida line-up of electric scooters clocked 7,161 VAHAN registrations for a market share of 7.2% in India's electric two-wheeler space. The company now plans to launch a new EV on 1 July.
Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp continued on its premiumisation overdrive with Premia stores now open in 100 locations across the country.
Auto Sales In May 2025: Kia India
Total sales of Kia India Pvt. Ltd. rose last month on the back of demand for its latest launch, the Carens Clavis.
The India unit of the South Korean maker shipped 22,315 units in May 2025, as against 19,500 units in the year-ago period—a growth of 14% year-on-year, according to a company statement.
The Carens Clavis has received an "overwhelming" response from customers, according to Kia India.
'Our strong sales performance in May reflects the growing resonance of Kia's diverse offerings across segments," Hardeep Singh Brar, Kia India's senior vice president and national head (sales and marketing), said in the company statement.
"As we continue to broaden our lineup, we remain dedicated to delivering future-ready mobility solutions that inspire confidence and delight our customers."
Auto Sales In May 2025: TVS Motor
Total sales of TVS Motor Co. Ltd. has grown by a fifth last month on the back of a 50% surge in EV sales.
The Chennai-based automaker, which makes two-wheelers and three-wheelers across mutiple fuel options, shipped a total of 4,31,275 units to dealerships in India and abroad, according to an exchange filing.
India sales up 14.6% YoY at 3,12,830 units
Exports up 22% YoY at 1,18,437 units
Two-Wheeler Business: Total two-wheeler sales rose 16% year-on-year to 4,16,166 units. Of these, 3,09,287 units were sold in India and 1,06,879 units were exported, registering a growth of 14% and 21%, respectively.
Three-Wheeler Business: Sales rose 46% year-on-year to 15,109 units in May 2025. Of these, 1,829 were electric.
EV Business: Sales of electric vehicles rose 50% year-on-year to 27,976 units last month. Of these, 24,560 were two-wheelers.
Auto Sales In May 2025: Toyota Kirloskar
Total sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motor India Pvt. Ltd. increased 22% year-on-year to 30,864 units in May 2025, according to a statement on Sunday. The Innova maker shipped 29,280 units to dealerships last month and 1,584 units overseas.
'With the onset of monsoon and forecasts indicating a normal to above-normal season, we remain optimistic about improved market sentiment in the coming months, particularly across rural and semi-urban regions,' Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said in a statement.

Total sales of Tata Motors Ltd., including domestic sales and exports, fell 8.6% year-on-year to 70,187 units as against 76,766 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Sunday.

Mahindra is firing on all cylinders as tractors join the SUV party.
Total sales of Mahindra Auto rose 17% year-on-year to 84,110 vehicles in May 2025 on the back of SUV sales that grew by a fifth, according to an exchange filing on Sunday.

SUV sales up 21% YoY at 52,431 units
LCV sales up 8% YoY at 21,391 units
3W sales up 11% YoY at 6,635 units
"Thanks to continued demand for our products, we were able to deliver industry-leading growth across our ICE and BEV portfolio," Nalinikanth Gollagunta, chief executive of Mahindra's auto division, said in the filing.
Mahindra's farm business, meanwhile, grew 10% year-on-year to 40,643 units last month, despite a drop in exports.
Domestic tractor sales rose 10% year-on-year to 38,914 units in May 2025, even as exports fell 8% to 1,729 units, according to an exchange filing.
