Social media platform X experienced a service disruption on Wednesday with reports spiking at 8.22 am. Around 40% users reported problem with the app, 29% on feed and timeline and 18% experience disruption on the website, according to Downdetector.
Reports of disruption surged during the day, with users complaining of issues loading timelines, refreshing feeds and accessing the mobile app. Downdetector data showed the outage peaked with more than 3,000 complaints in the United States in a short span before services gradually recovered.
A majority of affected users reported problems with the X mobile application, while others said the web version and feed loading were also impacted. While the platform was fluctuating, some users posted while they could pointing out the issue. One user wrote, "Is X Search down for anyone else too? The endpoint just throws "Dependency: Unspecified" error," while others asked, "Is X down?"
The platform appeared to restore normal services within around 30 to 40 minutes, though X had not issued an official statement on the disruption at the time of reporting.
The latest incident marks another outage for the platform in recent months. X has faced multiple technical disruptions since early 2025, including outages in January and February that affected tens of thousands of users globally.
Earlier outages had prompted speculation around server issues and cyberattacks, though no cause has yet been disclosed for the latest disruption.
