iPhone 17 Pro To Pack Major Camera Upgrade, Base Model To Get Enhanced Display, Says Mark Gurman
The standard iPhone 17 may get some small enhancements to its rear camera, while the Pro versions will receive significant improvements.

The iPhone 17, whose probable launch in September is still months away, has been the subject of numerous reports and rumours, revealing the possible features and specs one might expect in Apple's flagship series
In the most recent report, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has offered some key insights about the iPhone 17 series.
iPhone 17 Base Model To Get ProMotion
Typically, Apple saves the newest technology for its more costly iPhone models. However, in his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that Apple will include a ProMotion display to the standard iPhone 17.
ProMotion essentially indicates that the display has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Only the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models currently have a 120 Hz refresh rate, while the standard refresh rate used by Apple's base and Plus iPhones is 60 Hz. While this is good news for users who don't want to spend a fortune on Apple's costly Pro or Pro Max versions, this feature is available in a great majority of Android smartphones, including those in the low-cost range.
Major Camera Upgrades In Pro Models
The standard iPhone 17 might get some "small enhancements to its rear camera," Gurman said. However, there is good news for Pro lovers. "The Pro versions will receive significant improvements to their camera systems, including three rear cameras with 48-megapixel sensors," Gurman has claimed.
The Pro model currently has two 48MP cameras and a 12MP telephoto shooter. Three cameras and the same increased pixel count open up possibilities for many more camera features.
'Skinny' New iPhone 17 Air
Gurman opined that while "the iPhone 17 will remain a solid offering in the Apple lineup", those looking at a premium offering might just want to jump to the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to start at $899.
"If I were springing for something in the $800 range, I'd try to reach another $100 or so and just get the skinny new iPhone 17 Air," Gurman remarked, adding that consumers would not lose many features with the iPhone 17 Air but get a surprisingly light and thin phone.
