Jamshedpur FC navigated a disrupted, storm-hit contest to secure a 2-0 win over FC Goa at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday, May 1, a result that reflected both the team's resilience and their steady upward curve under Owen Coyle.
The match was halted just five minutes after kickoff due to lightning and a torrential downpour, forcing a 35-minute delay. When play resumed, the slick surface dictated a cagey, physical contest, with challenges mistimed, and three FC Goa players booked in the first half.
Jamshedpur, however, managed the conditions better and slowly took control of the game, threatening Goa with some incisive set-piece routines.
Coyle's side have quietly built momentum this season, anchored by defensive discipline and a strong home record, remaining undefeated at ‘The Furnace' this season.
That trend continued in what was a tight contest for over 80 minutes, with neither side able to establish sustained attacking rhythm. Jamshedpur's breakthrough eventually came through a set-piece, an area where they consistently threatened.

In the 82nd minute, a corner delivery caused disruption in the Goa box, with Mohammed Sanan applying a slick decisive touch to break the deadlock.
The game was effectively sealed in the 90th minute when Frenchman Madih Talal, lifted a composed finish over the goalkeeper to cap a decisive individual display.
The result significantly reshapes the top of the ISL points table. Jamshedpur FC move from fifth to top spot with 21 points from 11 matches, while FC Goa remain third on 19 points from 11 games.
Second-placed Mohun Bagan Super Giant, on 20 points from nine matches, are still favourites for the title with two games in hand. The Mariners next take the field on May 9 when they travel to Fatorda to face FC Goa.
