EPFO: Key Claim Settlement Changes You Need To Know For FY26
The correction process for members with Aadhaar-verified UAN has been streamlined, allowing EPF subscribers to make their own ID changes without any intervention from the EPFO.

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken many initiatives to streamline the process of claim settlement for PF account holders. The Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, recently highlighted these changes in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
This effort aims to improve efficiency, reduce transaction times and enable easy access to pension and provident fund benefits.
Here are the steps taken by EPFO to streamline the process of claim settlement:
Auto Claim Settlement
The amount limit for auto-processing advance claims has been increased to Rs 1 lakh. Moreover, advance withdrawals on medical grounds, housing, education and marriage have also been enabled by auto auto-processing mode. As per the ministry, 60% of advance claims are currently processed in auto mode.
Auto-mode claims are processed within three days. In the current financial year, EPFO's auto-claims settlement reached a new high of 2.16 crore as of March 6, 2025, up from 89.52 lakh in FY 2023-24.
Seamless Correction Process
The correction process for members with Aadhaar-verified UANs has been streamlined, allowing them to make their own ID changes without any interventions from the organisation. Currently, approximately 96% of adjustments are done without intervention from the EPF office.
De-linking Facilities
The EPFO has also streamlined the de-linking of wrong member IDs linked to the UAN of a subscriber. Since it was launched on January 18, 2025, over 55,000 users have delinked their accounts till the end of February 2025, according to government data.
Settlement Of Claims
More than 99.31% of claims are now processed online, eliminating the need to visit the field office. As of Mar. 6, 2025, 7.14 crore claims were made online for the financial year 2024-25.
Simplified Transfer Claim
Transfer claim submission requests no longer require employers’ attestation of Aadhaar-verified UANs. Currently, only 10% of transfer claims require the member and employer’s attestation.
Relaxed Cheque Leaf Requirement
The EPFO has relaxed the requirement for submitting a cheque leaf with the claim form for KYC-compliant UANs meeting the prescribed criteria.
Guidance On Ineligible Claims
The EPFO has implemented certain upfront validations to guide members about eligibility or admissibility of claims and prevent them from filing ineligible claims.
Centralised IT-enabled system
The Centralised IT Enabled System (CITES 2.01) streamlines the claim settlement process by centralising member databases.
