Foreign institutional investors have sold Rs 44,396 crore worth of Indian equities in January, while domestic investors have been buyers for 22 consecutive sessions, purchasing Rs 2,572.9 crore.

Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the eleventh straight session on Friday. They were also net sellers in index options and futures and in stock options and futures.
FIIs In Cash Market
Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the eleventh straight session on Friday and sold stocks worth Rs 3,318.1 crore.
Domestic institutional investors have been buyers for 22 consecutive sessions and bought stocks worth Rs 2,572.9 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
So far in January, FPIs have sold stake worth Rs 44,396 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.
The FPIs have offloaded stocks worth Rs 4,416.02 crore in the stock exchanges on Jan. 16, according to the NSDL data collected by NDTV Profit.

FIIs In Futures And Options
Ahead of the Jan. 25 expiry, the value of outstanding positions—also called open interest in the derivatives segment—has increased for the FIIs in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 15%:85%.
The FIIs sold index futures worth Rs 2,406.59 crore and index options worth Rs 13,994.8 crore. They also sold stock futures and options worth Rs 845.07 crore and 848.96 crore respectively.
FII Contract Value
The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market increased by Rs 1,087.21 crore at the end of January expiry from Rs 31,561.67 crore a day earlier to Rs 32,648.88 crore.
F&O Cues
The Nifty January futures were down by 0.50% to 23,261.75 at a premium of 58.55 points, with the open interest up by 3.94%.
The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Jan. 23 expiry series indicated most activity at 24,000 call strikes, with the 22,000 put strikes having maximum open interest.
Long-Short Ratio
The total long-short ratio for foreign investors fell to 1.22 from 1.28 in the previous session.
