Good morning

The GIFT Nifty, an early indicator for the benchmark Nifty 50, is down 0.12% at 24,098 as of 6:38 a.m. Equity-index futures for the US (S&P 500) rose 0.64% and Europe (Euro Stoxx 50) dipped 0.29%.

India Market Recap

Benchmarks advanced on Monday as sentiment improved amid hopes of easing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. The NSE Nifty 50 closed at 24,031.70, rising 312.40 points or 1.32%, crossing 24,000 for the first time in 11 trading sessions. The BSE Sensex ended higher by 1,073.61 points, or 1.42%, at 76,488.96, marking its biggest one-day gain in nearly six weeks.

US Market Recap

Wall Street remained closed on Friday due to Memorial Day holiday. On Friday, US stocks jumped, marking gains ahead of a long holiday weekend led by hopes for resolution of the Middle East conflict and enthusiasm for artificial intelligence-linked trades. The S&P 500 rose 0.4% , an eighth straight week of gains, its longest winning streak since 2023, while Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.2%, Bloomberg reported.

Asian Market Update

South Korea's Kospi hit a fresh record of 8,094.90 on Tuesday, and the small-cap Kosdaq advanced 2.12%. Japan's Nikkei dipped 0.18%, while the Topix declined 0.36%. On Monday, Nikkei 225 breached the 65,000 mark on Monday. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 opened 0.17% lower.

Commodity Check

Oil surged after tumbling over 7% on Monday, as reports of fresh military strikes in Iran raised doubts over a peace deal between Tehran and Washington to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Brent rose toward $98 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was near $91, according to Bloomberg data. Meanwhile, gold gained, trading at around $4,560 an ounce, after rising 1.4% the day before.
