Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex End Volatile Session Lower; IT Stocks Fall The Most

The markets ended the volatile session in losses. This comes after the United States carried out a large-scale military strike against Venezuela on Saturday.

Following the strike, market experts anticipate a gap-up opening for crude oil, gold, and silver prices. However, they noted that Venezuela’s economy is not large enough to significantly impact Indian equities, which are expected to remain stable.

• On the other hand, HDFC Bank, RIL, TCS, HCLTech and Bajaj Finance were the worst performers of the Nifty 50 index.

• Broader indices closed mixed. Nifty Midcap 150 ended 0.10% lower and Nifty Smallcap 250 closed 0.28% higher.

• M&M Finance and Cummins emerges as top losers in Nifty midcap 150

• Most sectoral indices rose with Nifty realty and Nifty defence leading the gains, while Nifty IT and Nifty oil and gas were among the losers.

• The market breadth was skewed in the favour of sellers, as 2,537 stocks declined, 1,726 advanced and 207 remained unchanged on the BSE.

• Indian equities ended lower after it opened mixed on Monday.

• Intraday, both Nifty and Sensex fell nearly 0.45% before it pared the gains made through the day.

• Nifty ends 78.25 points or 0.30% lower at 26,250.30.
