Nearly 19 years after Awarapan became a cult favourite, Emraan Hashmi reprises his role as Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2.

The makers unveiled the film's official trailer on Thursday, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of Shivam's life. Rather than revealing the entire storyline, the trailer focuses on the emotional scars carried by the protagonist while teasing intense action and the franchise's signature musical appeal.

Emraan Hashmi Returns As Shivam Pandit

The trailer presents Shivam as an older, battle-hardened man still struggling with the consequences of his past. While the central conflict remains under wraps, the visuals hint at themes of revenge, redemption and emotional healing.

Social Media Reviews

The trailer has received an encouraging response across social media platforms. Many viewers praised Emraan Hashmi's return as Shivam Pandit and appreciated that the makers avoided revealing major plot twists. Fans also welcomed the darker tone, emotional storytelling and action-packed visuals, with several calling it a worthy continuation of the 2007 film.

CBFC Certification

Ahead of its theatrical release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the film with a U/A 16+ certificate after recommending multiple edits. The board instructed the makers to include disclaimers on drug use and child trafficking, add an anti-drug ticker during drug-consumption scenes, display the title in Hindi, replace objectionable words, trim several violent sequences and remove a drug-snorting scene.

After these changes, the film received certification on August 5 with a final runtime of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds.

Presented by Vishesh Films and Mukesh Bhatt, produced by Vishesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, Awarapan 2 will be distributed in India by Pen Marudhar.

Release Date

Awarapan 2 is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026.
