The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reassured students and parents that the Class 12 board examination results for 2026 remain on track and are expected to be declared in the third week of May, putting to rest speculation about possible delays due to technical issues. The clarification comes amid heightened anticipation among more than 18 lakh candidates who appeared for the exams this year.

CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj, speaking to news agency PTI, firmly rejected media reports suggesting glitches in the newly implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. According to Bhardwaj, claims of technical disruptions are “far from facts,” and the evaluation process is proceeding smoothly and as per schedule. He added that teachers involved in the marking process have expressed satisfaction with the system, describing it as more efficient than traditional methods.

The OSM system, rolled out fully this year for Class 12 evaluations, allows examiners to assess answer sheets digitally. CBSE officials say this shift has significantly reduced the evaluation timeline from about 12 days to nearly 9 days raising the possibility of an earlier-than-usual result announcement compared to some previous years. In recent cycles, CBSE Class 12 results have typically been declared in the second or third week of May.
