Wealth creators in the country should be respected for the bright future of the country, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi when asked about the opposition's accusations of his friendship with billionaires Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani in an interview with Aaj Tak.

"Our wealth creators are the country's pride," he said in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). "They must be respected and it is our commitment to provide them the right environment to flourish."

The PM wants companies in India to open shop across the globe. However, if wealth is being created by cheating or using unfair means, they should be "hung," he said.

The prestige of people who are capable and are fostering should be raised, said Modi, adding that he's not shy and can announce from the Red Fort that wealth creators should be respected. He values money created by business in the same way he values the sweat of a labourer, he said.

The Congress Party has a psychological problem, PM Modi said. Congress thinks if Modi is elected for the third time, he'll be equal to Nehru, he said. "They have borrowed these accusations," according to him.

PM Modi said that he is being called names because the Nehru government was called the "Birla-Tata government."
