Bharti Airtel Ltd. has acquired 97 MHz of spectrum, winning back expiring spectrum and purchasing additional spectrum to enhance its mid-band holdings across select circles. The company has invested a total of Rs 6,857 crore for this spectrum, according to an exchange filing.
This acquisition ensures Airtel continues to hold the largest mid-band spectrum pool in the country.
Of the additional spectrum, Bharti Hexacom Ltd. has acquired 15 MHz with an outlay of Rs 1,001 crore.
The spectrum purchase aligns with Bharti Airtel's strategy to build a large mid-band spectrum pool to deliver seamless 4G and 5G services nationwide. This acquisition will enable customers to enjoy enhanced browsing speeds and improved indoor coverage, thanks to the expanded mid-band spectrum holdings.
