Iran said further nuclear talks with the US are now “meaningless” after Israel’s strikes, Tehran Times reported, citing Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for the foreign ministry.
“The other side has done something that makes dialogue meaningless,” Baghaei was reported as saying.
The US and Iran were scheduled to resume negotiations in Oman on Sunday. While Baghaei’s comments cast doubt on whether they would still go ahead, he stopped short of saying they were canceled. US President Donald Trump warned Iran on social media to make a deal “before it is too late.”
Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles against Israel following the unprecedented direct attack on its nuclear facilities, ramping up a conflict between sworn enemies that threatens to engulf the Middle East.
