Christopher Nolan's next film will be called The Odyssey, described as a "mythic action epic," according to reports by multiple media publications. The star-studded cast includes popular celebrity couple Tom Holland and Zendaya, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
Universal Studios officially announced the project on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The upcoming multi-starrer film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theatres everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

According to Variety, production is set to begin in the first half of 2025. Nolan will write and produce the film alongside his wife and longtime collaborator, Emma Thomas.
One of the oldest and most enduring works of literature, The Odyssey tells the story of Greek hero Odysseus and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The project will reunite Nolan with actors he has previously worked with, including Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway from 'Interstellar' and 'Oppenheimer', as well as Robert Pattinson from sci-fi thriller 'Tenet'.
Meanwhile, the upcoming multi-starrer will mark Nolan’s first collaboration with Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron. In an interview with Variety, Tom Holland confirmed his involvement in the film but revealed little else.
“To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about. I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about,” Holland said.
