Apple's upcoming iOS update, reportedly codenamed 'Solarium', is expected to feature several impressive upgrades for Siri, apps, messages and overall functionality. A major highlight will be a visual overhaul, bringing a more consistent and user-friendly design to the entire interface.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the redesign emphasises simplicity, speed and ease of use. With the new iOS update, Apple users are likely to experience unified controls, icons and interface elements across iOS and macOS. The design is reportedly inspired by VisionOS, the operating system that powers Apple Vision Pro.
The upgraded iOS will be revealed at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9. At the event, Apple is expected to announce a significant update for Siri. While Siri still lags behind rivals like Gemini Live and ChatGPT, Apple plans to enhance context awareness, on-screen understanding and app integration, a report by the Tom’s Guide website said.
iOS 26 may also add a handy feature displaying the estimated time remaining until your iPhone is fully charged directly on the lock screen. Many users have requested this and Apple seems to be listening.
According to 9to5Mac, iOS 26 is likely to bring polls to Messages for group decisions. There may also be a feature to support automatic translation of incoming and outgoing texts, making conversations more accessible.
Apple is reportedly going to add Markdown support to the Apple Notes app. This would enable users to more easily export notes, as Markdown is a plain text format.
The tech giant may also add full-screen animated album art to the iPhone lock screen and introduce new first-party apps along with major updates to existing ones.
Reports say iOS 26 will include a new Apple Games app and introduce numerous accessibility features, making the system more inclusive for all users. These updates may include a new braille experience, vehicle motion cues for Mac, live captions on Apple Watch and CarPlay support for Large Text, among other accessibility improvements.
