For months, there have been rumours that the iPhone SE 4, the first device from the Apple stable to launch in 2025, will be released in late March or early April. The most affordable iPhone is expected to get a slew of upgrades, a name switch, and a number of iPhone 16 characteristics.
From features, specifications, naming to price, here’s all you need to know about the upcoming iPhone SE 4.
iPhone 16e (Not iPhone SE 4): If recent reports are to be believed, Apple may discontinue the SE label and rename iPhone SE 4 as iPhone 16e. The company is presumably doing the rebranding to better align the device with its flagship series.
Most Affordable iPhone With Apple Intelligence: The device will reportedly be the most affordable iPhone packed with Apple Intelligence. This means users will have to spend less to enjoy AI features such as Writing Tools, new Siri, Image Playground, and more.
Face ID: The SE model will feature Face ID for the first time. The move from the Touch ID home button to Face ID, which will result in smaller bezels, is a noteworthy improvement. Compared to Touch ID, Face ID is safer and easier to use. Apple could reportedly also incorporate the Dynamic Island function, which shows content in the background, into the device.
Action Button: The multifunctional Action Button, which replaced the Ring/Silent switch on the recent iPhones, is expected to feature in the device. The button helps users with a range of actions that are performed frequently, including camera focusing, turning on the flashlight, and more.
Larger OLED Screen: While the previous model, the iPhone SE 2022, had a small 4.7-inch LCD panel, the new smartphone is anticipated to sport a much larger 6.1-inch OLED display and full-screen design. The larger screen should enhance the entire viewing experience and visual quality.
48MP Camera: Rumour has it that the upgraded iPhone SE would have a single 48MP primary camera. Compared to the 12MP shooter on the iPhone SE 2022, this would be a major improvement. Night Mode, which was absent from the 2022 model, will likely be included, along with improved video and Smart HDR.
A18 Bionic Chip : The A18 Bionic chip, which powers the iPhone 16 series, is also likely to be available on the upcoming phone. The device may become one of the quickest phones in its class as a result.
RAM And Storage: The phone might get an upgrade from 4GB to 8GB of RAM, which—when combined with 128GB of storage—could make it more suitable for demanding apps and Apple Intelligence features.
In-House 5G Modem : The upcoming smartphone might be the first to feature an Apple-developed 5G modem. One benefit of Apple using its own modem is that smartphones could be smaller. However, it’s unclear if there would be a size reduction for the iPhone 16e.
Bigger Battery And USB-C Port: The phone is expected to pack a larger battery and support for USB Type-C charging.
Pricing: The Apple iPhone SE 4 (iPhone 16e) is anticipated to have a price range of between $499 to $549 (about Rs. 42,500 to Rs. 47,000).
