Vedanta Ltd. recorded an all-time high production in its aluminium and zinc in the last financial year, according to provisional business updates released on Thursday.
International Aluminium
The firm's aluminium production increased 1% on a yearly basis to 603 kilotonnes in the fourth quarter. The firm's annual aluminium production went up 2% to 2,421 kilotonnes.
In the October-December period, annual alumina production increased 9% annually to 1,975 kt, driven by production from the new train of expansion. Conversely, the quarterly alumina production was lower during the quarter due to unplanned supply-chain issues, which got normalised by the quarter end.
Domestic Zinc Production
Zinc India reported its highest ever annual mined metal production at 1,095 kt, bolstered by improved mined metal grades and better mill recovery. The annual refined metal production reached an all-time high at 1,052 kt with a 2% YoY increase due to better plant availability and operational parameters.
Zinc India's fourth quarter saw 310 kt of mined metal, showing a 4% increase. The company's fourth quarter saw its highest sequential mined metal production, increasing 17%, spurred by higher mined metal grades, mills recovery and increase in production at Agucha and Zawar mines.
Refined metal production increased by 4% sequentially due to plant availability. Saleable silver production also went up 10% from the previous quarter.
Zinc International Production
Zinc International's mine metal production rose 52% annually and 9% sequentially in the fourth quarter due to higher tonnes treated at Gamsberg, and higher BMM grades in lead and zinc .
Iron Ore Production
Fourth-quarter iron ore production increased by 36% compared to the previous quarter, driven by better inventory use and increased output at mines.
Oil, Gas Production
Oil and gas production reached 3.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in the same quarter. The annual average gross operated production across all assets was 103.2 kboepd.
Ferro chrome production rose 4% YoY. Pig iron production saw a record high, showing a 4% year-on-year increase.
Steel Production
Steel production also saw positive growth, with total saleable output up 8% compared to the previous quarter, supported by improved operational efficiency and increased hot metal production.
Copper India
Copper India's fourth-quarter production increased by 41% YoY, a 6% annual increase.
Power
Power sales in the fourth quarter rose by 18% compared to the previous quarter.
