In the last 10 years, new highways and railways have been built regularly, leading to the creation of employment prospects for the people, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
In a freewheeling chat with NDTV’s Editor-In-Chief Sanjay Pugalia, the Union Minister spoke about the major issues raised by the opposition in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, which includes unemployment and constitutional amendments.
"In the last 10 years, 46 crore people took Mudra loan, while 81 crore people are getting rations every month without fail. The figures of Jal Jeewan, Aawas Yojana are also the testimony for the same, " he said.
Taking a dig at the opposition, Jaishankar said, "Those residing in Lutyens Delhi may overlook these essential services as they are already provided for."
"Our government has worked on the citizen's basic needs like housing, electricity, water, food and health access. We have delivered these basic promises, which is why we are still favoured by the voters," he said.
On the opposition's narrative that BJP will bring major changes in the Constitution, the Minister said, "The majority of constitutional amendments, approximately 85%, took place during the Congress era."
The majority of current government representatives and ministers do not belong to the privileged class of the 1970s and 1980s, but rather are individuals who represent the general public, he said.
