Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar took oath of office of deputy CM.
The Mahayuti secured a two-thirds majority in the Maharashtra assembly election last month.
Other ministers of the Maharashtra government are expected to be inducted in the coming days as hectic negotiations between the three parties carry on.

On Wednesday, the BJP convened an important legislature party meeting in Mumbai, where Devendra Fadnavis was selected as the Chief Minister. His name was proposed by former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, with senior BJP leaders such as Sudhir Mungantiwar and Pankaja Munde unanimously supporting the nomination. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present at the meeting.

Devendra Fadnavis Oath-Taking Ceremony Live: Traffic Restrictions
The Mumbai Traffic Police has already issued an advisory about restrictions to be imposed on Dec. 5 due to oath-taking ceremony. To ease vehicular movement around the Azad Maidan area, several roads will remain blocked for commuters. The Mumbai Traffic Police has asked people to use public transport to reach the ground as no parking facility will be available at Azad Maidan.
Roads including Maha Palika Marg, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Hajarimal Somani Marg and Meghdoot Bridge have been made no-entry zones. The traffic department asked citizens to plan their commute accordingly as a large number of people are expected to gather.
Maharashtra CM Oath Live: Exchange Of Jokes Amid Speculation Over Eknath Shinde's Post
When the three leaders of the Mahayuti alliance addressed a press conference on Wednesday, the room bursted into laughter after Ajit Pawar sprung a self-deprecating joke about his role in the new government.
Pawar said he will "definitely" take oath as deputy CM even as reporters asked whether Shinde will be offered a second deputy role. To this, the Shiv Sena leader said that Ajit can take oath "anytime in the evening or morning".
This was in reference to Ajit Pawar's early morning swearing-in as deputy CM in 2019, alongside Devendra Fadnavis. The government lasted just couple of days, forcing an embarrasing collapse.
Mahayuti Ministers To Take Oath Within A Week, Says NCP's Chhagan Bhujbal
Nationalist Congress Party leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Thursday said ministers from the Mahayuti allies in Maharashtra will take oath in a week's time.
"The cabinet formation modalities will be discussed by the three leaders and the ministry will be formed in a week's time," said Bhujbal, who served as a minister in the outgoing government.
Together with allies Shiv Sena and NCP, the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition has a commanding majority of 230 seats in the 288-member state assembly.
Ajit Pawar managed to best his uncle and NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar in the election, winning more seats than the rival faction.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday at Mumbai's Azad Maidan. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and a host of other senior BJP leaders will attend the event.
Around 42,000 people, including CMs of Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states and other dignitaries, are expected to attend the oath taking ceremony.
Fadnavis was chosen as CM after being elected as leader of Maharashtra BJP legislative party on Wednesday at a high-profile meeting.
This is the third time Fadnavis is returning as Maharashtra Chief Minister. Caretaker CM Eknath Shinde and NCP's Ajit Pawar are also expected to take oath as deputy chief ministers.
