With the last Saturday of the month, what does it mean for bank customers? Is there a bank holiday on Saturday, Dec. 28? Let's find out.

Are Banks Open Or Closed This Saturday, Dec. 28?

Banks are usually closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, unless stated otherwise. Since Dec. 28 falls on the fourth Saturday of the month, banks across India will be closed on that day.

Banks typically observe the holiday schedule set by the Reserve Bank of India, which includes specific holidays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and all Sundays.

According to the RBI, bank holidays are categorised into three types: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks' Closing of Accounts. In addition, holiday observances for festivals may vary depending on the state and the regional offices of the central bank.
