India-US Trade Talks On Track, No Need For Additional Round Of Negotiations: Sources

India and the United States are inching closer to a comprehensive trade agreement, with government sources indicating that talks are progressing well and there may be no need for additional rounds of negotiations at this stage.

According to government sources, India has already submitted a detailed trade proposal and is now awaiting the US response. "We don’t see the need for another round of negotiations right now. The ball is in their court," a source said.

The two sides are working toward a comprehensive, WTO-compliant trade deal, aimed at strengthening market access and addressing key non-tariff barriers. Officials said that India has kept in mind all sensitive sectors, while framing its proposal to ensure that the final pact aligns with domestic economic priorities.

The negotiations form part of the broader effort to expand the India–US economic partnership, which has seen steady growth in recent years across technology, defence, and supply-chain collaboration. The trade deal, once finalised, is expected to boost investment flows and ease market access for goods and services between the two economies.
