Saturday Bank Holiday: With all the rush during the weekdays, the working class in India typically looks forward to Saturdays to complete their bank-related tasks. However, one must know that banks are not always operational on Saturdays. Knowing the exact dates of bank holidays is crucial for planning pending tasks at bank branches. This information helps ensure that tasks are completed on time and avoids delays due to branch closures or limited availability.
What does this mean for Saturday, Jan. 11? Is it a bank holiday? Let’s find out.
Are Banks Open Or Closed This Saturday, Jan. 11?
The second and fourth Saturdays of the month are usually bank holidays. Since Jan. 11 is the second Saturday of the month, banks will be closed on this day.
Banks across India typically follow the holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) every year. These holidays include specified holidays, second and fourth Saturdays, and all Sundays.
The RBI holiday calendar classifies bank holidays primarily into three categories. These are: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays and Banks' Closing of Accounts. Further, bank holidays for festivals differ across states and regional offices of the central bank.
Citizens will, however, have access to online banking, which means mobile and internet banking will function seamlessly.
