India’s top 10 most valued companies collectively added Rs 7,905.64 crore to their market capitalisation in Tuesday’s trade, with Bharti Airtel Ltd. leading the gains.
Only three companies—Reliance Industries Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., and State Bank of India—saw a decline in their market value.
Reliance Industries recorded the sharpest drop, shedding Rs 16,983.13 crore in market capitalisation, followed closely by Tata Consultancy Services, which lost Rs 16,661.29 crore. SBI’s market cap declined by Rs 4,908.54 crore, bringing it down to Rs 6.34 lakh crore.
Among the gainers, Bharti Airtel added Rs 21,160.02 crore to its market capitalisation, bringing its total value to Rs 9.33 lakh crore. Bajaj Finance Ltd. followed with an increase of Rs 8,285.27 crore, pushing its market cap to Rs 5.25 lakh crore.
ICICI Bank Ltd. saw a rise of Rs 5,258.22 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 8.65 lakh crore, while HDFC Bank Ltd. added Rs 4,015.05 crore, reaching a total market capitalisation of Rs 12.86 lakh crore.
ITC’s market cap increased by Rs 3,690.95 crore to Rs 5.06 lakh crore, while Infosys gained Rs 1,100.35 crore, bringing its valuation to Rs 7.33 lakh crore.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd. added Rs 2,948.74 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 5.29 lakh crore.
Despite losses in a few heavyweights, the overall market cap of these top firms increased by Rs 7,905.64 crore.
Indian benchmark indices ended Tuesday’s session on a mixed note, with metal stocks seeing the steepest decline, while the media sector led gains. This followed Monday’s session, where markets extended their losing streak for the fifth consecutive day, marking their lowest levels since June 2024.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers, while Hindalco Industries Ltd. and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. were the biggest laggards.
The NSE Nifty 50 slipped 5.80 points, or 0.03%, to close at 22,547.55, while the BSE Sensex edged up 147.71 points, or 0.20%, to 74,602.12. During intraday trade, the Sensex rose 0.44% to touch a high of 74,785.08.
