Investors are looking forward to the opening of the Indian stock market after US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for over 75 countries. The reprieve is likely to benefit India, as it is among the countries that have not retaliated against the sharp levies the United States has imposed on imports. However, investors would need to wait for a day more as the stock markets remained closed on Thursday on account of Mahavir Jayanti.
While trading will resume on Friday, April 11, both BSE and the National Stock Exchange will remain shut for three consecutive days following that due to an extended weekend.
Monday, April 14, will be a market holiday for Ambedkar Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Trading will resume on Tuesday, April 15 for three days before closure for another extended weekend. The stock market will remain shut on April 18 for Good Friday, followed by Weekend on April 19 and 20.
The Indian stock market will remain closed for a total of eleven days in April 2025 including the weekend holidays.
