Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Bajaj Finserv Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. and Tata Steel Ltd. were the top gainers among the NSE Nifty 50 stocks on Thursday.
While, Infosys Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. were among stocks that dragged.
The benchmark indices declined on Thursday to extend losses to the seventh consecutive day. IT, PSU Bank and FMCG were the top sectors that lost during the session. The Nifty 50 fell as much as 0.23%, and the BSE Sensex declined 0.21%.
India's recent underperformance could reverse in the coming months, but unlike popular commentary, the recovery will not be led by inflows from global funds, according to Morgan Stanley.
Top Gainers
Sun Pharma and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers as their shares closed 3.1% and 2.3% higher, respectively. Kotak Mahindra Bank stock advanced 1.5%, while Bajaj Finserv rose 3.4%.
Kotak Mahindra Bank's stock rose as much as 2.25%, following the lifting of restrictions imposed on the lender by the Reserve Bank of India.
Top Losers
HDFC Bank and Infosys shares were the top losers as the stocks closed 0.53% and 1.07% lower, respectively. Tata Consultancy Services settled 1.01% lower, while Larsen & Toubro ended with 0.79% losses.
