The consolidated crude steel production of JSW Steel Ltd. fell 1% year-on-year and 6% sequentially in the first quarter of the current financial year, mainly due to planned maintenance shutdowns.
The company had produced 6.35 million metric tonnes in the quarter ended June in comparison to 6.19 MT in the same period a year ago, according to an exchange filing on Tuesday.
The Indian operation in the first quarter of this fiscal was at 6.12 MT, down 1% from 6.19 MT in the year-ago period. The capacity utilisation at Indian operations stood at 87% in the June quarter, it said. JSW Steel USA-Ohio produced 0.23 MT in the quarter ended June.
Shares of JSW Steel closed 0.39% lower at Rs 935 apiece on the BSE, compared to a 0.49% advance in the benchmark Sensex.
