The much-awaited trade agreement between India and the United Kingdom has been signed today, marking the culmination of three years of negotiations. PM Modi has said that India and the UK are committed to building a high-scoring, solid partnership.

A spokesperson for JLR said: “We welcome this free trade agreement between the UK and India, which over time will deliver reduced tariff access to the Indian car market for JLR's luxury vehicles. India is an important market for our British built products and represents significant future growth opportunities.”

The company added that no decisions have been taken on pricing as of yet.

"Duty-free access for about 99% of Indian exports unlocks nearly $23 billion in opportunities for labour-intensive sectors, marking a new era for inclusive and gender-equitable growth," shared Union Ministry of Commerce Piyush Goyal on his X profile.

Goyal further thanked PM Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, along the people of India & the United Kingdom on the signing of the landmark India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
