Covid-19 deaths in India crossed the 100-mark for the first time in six days, while active cases inched up.
India also reported nearly 13,000 fresh Covid-19 cases, which is higher than the 11,764 recoveries reported in the day. This led to a rise in active infections to 1.42 lakh.
To be sure, the number is still small as active cases had crossed 10 lakh mid-September. They account for a mere 1.31% of the total Covid-19 confirmed cases. That’s lower than deaths which account for 1.43%.

The number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against Covid-19 has reached 66.11 lakh on the morning of day 26 of the nationwide inoculation drive.
Twenty five cases of adverse effect following immunisation have been reported till 6:30 p.m. on the 25th day of the vaccination drive. The health ministry said India is the fastest country to reach 60 lakh vaccinations, achieving it in just 24 days.

Over 107 million people have contracted the Covid-19 virus so far with 2.35 million deaths. More than 152 million vaccination shots have been given worldwide.
