Tata Motors, the fourth largest truck and bus manufacturer in the world, has entered Australia under a new exclusive and independent distributor Fusion Automotive.
Through Fusion, Tata Motors will introduce a range of light commercial vehicles, in both the 4x2, 4x4, single and crew-cab variants, with Euro V turbo diesel engines, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Commenting on the tie-up, Karl Slym, managing director of Tata Motors, said, "Our entry into Australia marks an important milestone in the continued expansion of our global footprint.. which will see us launching products tested and validated across some of the toughest terrains into the Australian market."
Fusion head Darren Bowler said, "We are extremely proud to be appointed as distributor for Tata Motors. The vehicle range, starting with light commercials, will be competitively priced and will offer a greater level of value than what is available in the current market."
"There is no tougher place on earth to test vehicles than on some of the toughest and most demanding roads across India, and we believe that gives us a competitive advantage with the range of Tata Motors products," he added.
He further said the light commercial segment is the third largest segment in the Australian new-car market now, with 13 major brands in the 4x2 and 4x4 categories. Fusion plans to have 13 dealers by the end of the year and will be appointing dealers across the vast country.
