Food aggregator Swiggy Ltd. has launched a new service for food delivery to professionals in office environments.
DeskEats, as the service is called, is currently available in over 7,000 tech parks, business centers, and corporate complexes across 30 cities in India, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
The collection offers around 7 lakh items from over 2 lakh restaurants. Users can access the collection within the Swiggy app by typing 'Office' or 'Work.' The service is designed for convenience and is intended to be used during the workday.
The company has curated collections for various mealtime use cases, such as 'Value Combos,' 'Stress Munchies,' 'Healthy Nibbles,' and 'One-handed Grabbies.' The last collection was the most popular offering, accounting for approximately 30% of total DeskEats orders.
A pilot phase of the service provided data on user preferences which found that in the Stress Munchies category, chicken popcorn was the most ordered item in Bengaluru, fries in Mumbai, and garlic breadsticks in Gurugram. Salads were the preferred choice in the 'Healthy Nibbles' category across all cities.
Mumbai was identified as the top city for DeskEats orders during the pilot phase.
DeskEats operates in conjunction with Swiggy’s corporate rewards program, which has expanded to 14,000 companies with 1.5 lakh employees.
Sumeet Kapahi, vice president of food strategy said that DeskEats aims to address the need for food that is packaged for consumption at a desk without the need for plates or cutlery.
