Happy New Year Shatters Box Office Records

Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year has broken record for highest 1st day collection ever, says Koimoi.com.

According to Koimoi.com, the movie collected around Rs 45 crore on its opening day, which is far ahead of earlier record holder Dhoom 3's Rs 36 crore collections.

Also the film garnered Rs 38 crore on Saturday, taking its total collections to over Rs 80 crore, reported Koimoi.com.

The website said, "Dhoom 3 had made it to the coveted 100 crore club in 3 days but looking at the performance of Happy New Year, it is quite clear that the film will reach the big figure within half Sunday itself. "

The movie was released over the Diwali weekend and has received an overwhelming response. Directed by Farah Khan, the cast of the film includes Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
