Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Wednesday reported a 19.97 per cent increase in its domestic sales for April 2013 at 8,488 units.
The auto major said the nearly 20 per cent boost in sales was backed by the launch of the Amaze, 4,852 units of which were dispatched during the month.
The company had sold 7,075 units in the same month last year, HCIL said in a statement.
During April, the company sold 1,917 units of the City and 1,628 units of its small car Brio. It also sold 33 units of its premium car Accord.
The company also sold 58 units of its sports utility vehicle CR-V in April 2013.
In addition to these sales, the company also exported a total of 182 units during April 2013.
Speaking on the numbers, HCIL's senior vice president Jnaneswar Sen said, "April 2013 was a significant landmark in Honda's journey in India. With new investments in Tapukar plant, launch of advanced i-DTEC diesel engine technology, and rollout of new family sedan Amaze, Honda has set on a new phase of growth in the country."
On the Honda Amaze sales, he said, "Amaze has received tremendous response from the customers despite the slowdown in the industry. We are confident that Amaze will drive our growth in this fiscal."
