US President Donald Trump dismissed on Tuesday rumours about his health, saying that such fake news were the reason why the media had very "little credibility".

"That's fake news. It's so fake. That's why the media has so little credibility," Trump told reporters at the White House when asked by a reporter on rumours on social media about his demise. "I knew they were saying 'is he okay? How is he feeling? What's wrong?' It's also sort of a longer (Labour Day) weekend."

The president termed the rumours of his death "crazy". "Last week, I did numerous news conferences... And then, I didn't do it for two days, and they said 'there must be something wrong with him'."

"Biden wouldn't do it for months. You wouldn't see him, and nobody ever said there was ever anything wrong with him. And we know he wasn't in the greatest of shape," he said.

Trump said he was very active actually over the weekend.
